PC-12 With "Engine Problems" Goes Down Downtown   PDF  Print  E-mail

It is no secret that some of the founders here at air charter gospel central love the PC12. The story of an engine failure that led to not only survival, but yet another landing on a street, begs the question - are we honest with ourselves when we say things like "two is better than one," when the data may indicate otherwise.

The key question is, do stories like this AvWeb News or this Seattle Times story vindicate those of us who champion the safety of single engine turbine ops?

The Breiling data that is gathered every year (and compiled historically since 1967) definitely seems to corroborate our counter intuitive sense that two is not always safer than one.

In fact, when comparing *just* the King Air with the Pilatus PC-12, the data shows the PC12 to be almost four times better for the PC12.
