Air charter safety pundits, such as yours truly, will be slightly vindicated by this news. It seems as if the more information we get, the more we learn how the industry feels backed into cutting corners. Even the FAA has been emboldened to act, and good luck to those other piggy backers when the DOT sniffs the piggy backness lurking in this one. This story is quite complete and helpful. Meanwhile the rest of us air charter lackeys trundle along trying to use words like risk mitigation and "best practices" without causing too much flak from those in the industry who seem compelled to say just "how safe we really are" as yet another charter or corporate aircraft plows into the ground. This post was made by Adam Webster who cavetches well, consistently, and with no emotional embellishment. He likes things like data, facts, and independent perspective, which are rare commodoties in the world of Part 135. |
