An encouraging air charter article if only for the fact that this draws attention away from the naysayers to those that honestly believe that ubiquity in the air with air charter / air taxi solutions is a possibility. Whether we bicker on the merits of a VLJ and if it would really be any better than a good hard working Caravan or argue on who actually will be able to afford these VLJ's - the undeniable trend is that people are starting to run their mouths and this will most certainly lead to lots of money chasing lots of excellent and deeply flawed business plans. Richard Aboulafia is one such naysayer, and he would certainly scoff at this article, but after a few well placed and timed cocktails, we can usually get him to agree that if the price point is right, there might be something there. The fundamental flaw that many of us in the air charter industry fail to see today is that fact that our entire culture is overpriced, right down to the cheese tray for two. Windscreen prices for a 737 vs. a Lear 60 are yet another clue (hint: the little airplane has a more expensive window) that something is holding us back, and ain't necessarily little airplanes. I'll stop now before it gets too evangelical. This post was made by Adam Webster who has been called idealistic on a good day and delusional on bad days. Either way he thinks he is far ahead of the pack, but even if this is not true, please don't burst his bubble. |
