While this is not specifically air charter / air taxi news, the trend here is worthy of note. At one point, Sabre Systems was the 800 pound gorrilla of reservations, etc. JetBlue dropping out says A LOT about the direction the future will take us. When it comes to information, that direction is the path of least resistance, or as we like to say - the "free" route. Think of the internet as the gravitational force that pulls all customers down that "path of least resistance." Structure your business accordingly, and you are ok. Charge money for information they can dig up on their own, and your air charter days may be numbered. This news should be a good shot across the bow to any company that thinks they can charge for a service by hiding information, separating interested parties, or in general not adding as much value as they charge for. It is no wonder that Southwest never had a GDS role. Nor will Proletariat Air Taxi for that matter. This post was made by Adam Webster who is quite excited about dragging you to this this conference. |
