This air taxi / air charter news is certainly interesting if only from the Richard Branson perspective of "small is beautiful." Big biz plans with big budgets and no proof of concept stage often spell trouble. People in North Dakota may be more hip to air taxi than the hippest NYC Air Taxi venture firm. The question is, how can one make an "air taxi" go with single piston engined aircraft, in a hostile (and yes, dark in the winter) climate where VFR ops and icing free clouds are not always on the menu "du jour." The smallnes is admirable, yet the execution and commercial viability have yet to be proven. This local news got our attention. And ok, there is no need to beat up on North Dakota. Besides, we have customers there.. so we need to watch what we say. This post was made by Adam Webster who is known to deride people from any place other than Montreal. Please note, if you come to this conference he promises not to deride people from North Dakota. |
