This article was a breath of fresh air for air charter folks since it contained an ingredient that is not always present in aviation start ups - humility. In the fast paced world of Jet-A burning start ups it is easy to forget one of the most important principles of successful businesses. Ed Iacobucci caught our attention with these words: "I'd be lying if I said I was 100 percent confident," Iacobucci said. "In the final analysis, you don't know if it's going to work or not. If we execute and we deliver what we promise, I'm pretty comfortable we're going to be successful." What he is teaching the rest of us is elemental: #1 Have a plan, #2 Execute the plan and #3 Be ready to make mid course corrections so that you deliver what you promise. The last point being the most important - success is measured hitting the expectation of all parties involved, be they employees, customers or investors. Setting expectations, including one's own, from the very beginning, is critical. What the founder of this now famous start up is doing, is showing the readership of this article that he is cautious, conservative and yet also willing to take a chance like many other equally inspired entreprenneurs.
