What are those resourceful 'call center savvy' Indians up to? Building a big, fast, pusher turboprop. The Indian air charter industry may see a bump in interest if the Saras aircraft, featured in this story, is as successful as they hope. The aircraft is being manufactured on the precept that Indians can stimulate their own aviation industry, especially if they create a cutting edge aircraft that can operate in conditions that are found within India, that make it appealing world wide - specifically: Flying a pressurized, PT-6 powered, 14 seat, 290 knot, turboprop, from hot and high airports. The air charter business, business aviation, and future air taxi operators in the US, Canada, heck....even France, not to mention the airlines, would like a bunch of these. Now if only I could figure out a way to start stamping out King Air's in China, for $200K a copy new....now that would be cool.... |
