UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) and you. Orwell anyone? These two stories will really make you think about a lot of stuff, mostly stuff you'd prefer not to think about.

For example, the words "file and fly" mentioned in the second of these two articles casually refer to a day when UAVs will simply be sent up into the airspace to fly with you and I.

The crazy thing is that some pilots have already had close encounters of the "not so friendly air charter kind," since the Border Patrol unilaterally just sent UAVs directly into service. No special use airspace, no real warning, just...here they are...planes with blinders on!

They caught the attention of some GA pilots who said, "What's that?"

Now consider this...they want to keep them in the air 24 - 7 at some point, which is great for whatever their goals are, but not so great for the unwitting VFR folks who choose to forgoe advisories.
