Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International

Covington, KY USA (KCVG / CVG)

The airport got its start in the early 1940s as a training field for military pilots. As WWII drew to a close, the military relinquished control to the Airport Board in neighboring Kenton County, which sought to create a civilian airport on the land in Boone County. The region had been served for years by Lunken Airport on Cincinnati’s eastern edge. The 1937 flood gave rise to the nickname, “Sunken Lunken,” casting doubts on its ability to serve the area’s growing needs. Deep in the river valley often steeped in fog Lunken grew ill-suited for the ever-larger airliners. A $500 million expansion began in 1992.

Located nearby in Lexington KLEX another area legacy is Bluegrass Air Charter which are the regions premier turboprop provider featuring three world class King Airs flown by world class crew.

Blue Grass Air Charter is a proud sponsor of the KLUK Cincinnati Lunke airport airport as well as the KCVG Covington Kentucky.
