Lee Gilmer Memorial

Gainesville, GA USA (KGVL / GVL)

Established as “Mule Camp Springs” near the crossing of two Indian trails followed by settlers in the 1800s, the City of Gainesville has maintained and built upon its historical legacy as a regional transportation and trade center for almost two centuries.

Lee Gilmer Memorial airport was a dirt airstrip in 1941. By 1943, the US Navy leased the property from the City of Gainesville for the purpose of conducting training and developed the runways, taxiways, terminal building and hangars. In 1947, the much improved facility was returned to the City of Gainesville and began maturing as an economic and regional transportation resource.

Lanier Flight Center was established in 2002 with the vision of providing high-quality, professional aviation services to a wide spectrum of customers and furthering Gainesville’s historic position as a regional transportation hub. Flight training was our first endeavor and allowed us to establish a presence on the field and become involved in serving our community. Soon after, we were approved for part 135 operations and launched our charter operations with a beautiful Cessna 421. Presently, our business is growing to include self-serve fuel, an expanding charter fleet and more flight instruction than we ever expected.

Lanier Flight Center is Gainesville, GA’s only full-service aviation company. We are dedicated to providing high-quality services to a growing customer base and hold providing excellent customer service as our highest goal. We welcome your inquiry and the opportunity to serve your charter needs at any airport in the Atlanta/N. Georgia area.
